Mid-Summer Open-Air Service and Barbeque!!!

We invite members and friends of both parishes to gather for the Joint Mid-Summer, Open-Air Service Sunday, July 16, 2023. Once again, Richard and Marilyn Hartung will host this event at their lovely property at 3478 Weimar Line (Reg. Rd. 14), Bamberg. Worship begins at 10:30 am on the “hill-side”.

This year, the service will feature Gospel singers Hank and Jane Sonnenberg. Mia Collins will preside on the keyboard. Following the service at 12 noon, everyone is invited to gather for a barbeque lunch at the “barn.” Hamburgers, hot dogs, pop, water, coffee will be provided. We invite participants to bring salads and/or desserts. Please bring your lawn chairs. Come and enjoy the long-cherished tradition of both our parishes. 

Our New Worship Book

Instead of switching back and forth from the Blue book to the Green book during worship St. Paul’s will now be using the ‘Maroon’ Evangelical Lutheran Worship book. It is a hard cover Pew Edition and includes more Hymns than the Blue & Green books combined. Our usual Setting will be used but there are other options too.

Members and guests will no longer become lost or confused during worship because everything will already be in the palm of your hand.

This change begins Sunday, May 21, 2023 during 11:00 am worship.

Music Sunday

On Sunday, May 7, 10:30 a.m., we gather at St. Peter’s Church, Heidelberg for the celebration of a great Heidelberg-Erbsville tradition – the Annual Joint Church Music Sunday service.

For the first time since Covid, we celebrate those who bless us with the gifts of praise and music. On this day, we give thanks to Dan Amorim, our church musician for his devotion and the enormous talents that he brings to bear each Sunday at worship. We also rejoice in the presence of dear friends, the members of the Country Horizons Band. Please join us for a special morning of music, song and praise and a time of fellowship in the parish hall after the service.

Communion

During our February, 2020 Annual Meeting a decision was made by the congregation to only offer communion during the 1st Sunday of the month at 11:00 am Service. A vote on a motion to do so passed. Obviously, thanks to the Covid pandemic, we forgot.

St. Paul’s Church will now honour this decision. Beginning in June, 2023 communion will only be offered on the first Sunday of the month. There will be exceptions for special celebrations such as Easter and Christmas. Our church calendar will now display dates for communion.

May 7 worship is a Joint Service at St. Peter’s – Music Sunday. Therefore, we will offer communion at St. Paul’s on May 21 at 11:00 am service.

Easter Breakfast Resumes!

Easter is approaching quickly and Councils of both St. Paul’s & St. Peter’s churches have agreed it’s time to return to the ‘good old days’!

Our joint Easter Breakfast will be served in St. Peter’s Church hall this year. Both cooking and clean-up will be handled by St. Peter’s members, for which we say Thank You! We would like to learn in advance how many will be attending. Please let us know if you’ll be joining us. A sign-up sheet will be placed at the back of our church, or you could email us at info@stpaulserbsville.ca

Here is the schedule for this year’s Easter celebrations, which are all Joint services:

         Maundy Thursday – April 6 – 7:30 pm at St. Peter’s (H) – Passion Play included

         Good Friday – April 7 – 10:00 am at St. Paul’s (E)

         Easter Sunday – April 9 – 7:00 am – Early Service – at St. Peter’s (H)

8:30 am – Easter Breakfast – at St. Peter’s Hall

10:30 am – Later Service – at St. Paul’s (E)

Let us celebrate the chance to be together at Easter once again.

Our Council will be officially recognized on March 26 at 9:30 service.
