Easter Breakfast Resumes!

craigb · Mar 17, 2023 ·

Easter is approaching quickly and Councils of both St. Paul’s & St. Peter’s churches have agreed it’s time to return to the ‘good old days’!

Our joint Easter Breakfast will be served in St. Peter’s Church hall this year. Both cooking and clean-up will be handled by St. Peter’s members, for which we say Thank You! We would like to learn in advance how many will be attending. Please let us know if you’ll be joining us. A sign-up sheet will be placed at the back of our church, or you could email us at info@stpaulserbsville.ca

Here is the schedule for this year’s Easter celebrations, which are all Joint services:

         Maundy Thursday – April 6 – 7:30 pm at St. Peter’s (H) – Passion Play included

         Good Friday – April 7 – 10:00 am at St. Peter’s (H)

         Easter Sunday – April 9 – 7:00 am – Early Service – at St. Peter’s (H)

8:30 am – Easter Breakfast – at St. Peter’s Hall

10:30 am – Later Service – at St. Paul’s (E)

Let us celebrate the chance to be together at Easter once again.

Installation Service

Our Council will be officially recognized on March 26 at 9:30 service.

It’s never too late to offer your assistance… We’d really appreciate your help.

Annual Meeting – 2023

craigb · Jan 7, 2023 ·

Mark your calendars! Sunday, January 29, 2023 is the date of St. Paul’s Annual Meeting. After our 11:00 am Service sandwiches, veggies and fruit will be available downstairs – feel free to bring something more…  We plan to get started before 1:00 pm. Reports will be available at the Church on Sunday, January 22 and also at the meeting itself.

These last few years have been very difficult and we truly do need your help to thrive. Council began actions suggested during our How To Grow Our Church meeting in 2019 but the Coronavirus pandemic became more than just an interruption. Much more needs to be done and your input will be greatly appreciated.

Please join us as we look to the future.

Christmas Gifts, Services and more

Christmas Gift for Children

Last year’s campaign of support for the Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region was a great success. We helped the young children in our region who were vulnerable and wishing for support. Let’s do it again!

There are red envelopes for you to use to donate to them through St. Paul’s. These will be near the entrance where our Handouts are placed and will avoid any confusion between these and our yellow envelope Offerings. Any cheques should be payable to St. Paul’s and we will forward that money to them on behalf of our church. Your offering will be included in your year-end tax receipt. The children say, Thank you!

Church Services over the Holidays

Christmas Eve’s service is 8:00 pm at St. Paul’s this year – the early service. St. Peter’s will be hosting the late service at 10:00 pm.   (That’s Saturday, December 24… )

No service will be held on Sunday, December 25 this year at either of our two churches.

New Year’s Day is a Sunday this year. A Joint Service will be held at St. Paul’s at 11:00 am January 1, 2023. (You can sleep in… )

Annual Meeting – 2023

Mark your calendars! Our Annual Meeting will be held on January 29, 2023 after 11:00 am Service. Yes, January, not February! Reports will be provided beforehand and your input is both needed and greatly appreciated. See you then!  (We need more Council members…)

Covid update from Eastern Synod

“With the ongoing circulation of COVID-19, the rise in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), as well as influenza we need to ensure that our worshipping practices are as safe as possible.”

Therefore, the Eastern Synod recommends you wear a “well-fitting mask during in-person worship as well as during all indoor social events.”  A mask will protect you and fellow members but will not be mandatory at St. Paul’s – your choice.

Cemetery Service 2022

craigb · Oct 5, 2022 ·

This year’s cemetery decoration service was enjoyed by many, despite the cooler air!

Next year’s will be earlier and warmer, we hope.

Thank you everyone!

Upcoming Events at St. Paul’s

craigb · Sep 16, 2022 ·

Coffee Hour is back! Beginning September 25, after 9:30 am Service, we welcome everyone downstairs once again. Times have changed – the weather too – so coffee is free and your company is our treat!

Confirmation Class – This fall we hope to resume joint-parish Confirmation instruction. Classes will be held at St. Peter’s Church, Heidelberg every other Thursday evening 7-9 p.m. Some inquiries have already been made re: a fall Confirmation program. If you are aware of any family or young person that would be interested in attending, please contact Pastor Olaf (519-725-3023)

Bible Study Welcomes You Back – After a break that has lasted some 2 ½ years, it is now possible to welcome members and friends back to Bible Study. Our first meeting will occur at the home of Pastor Olaf and Valerie (49 Sorrel Place, Waterloo), Sunday, October 2, 2022, 7:30 p.m. At this gathering we hope to catch up a little bit in terms of our experiences with the pandemic. We will also spend some moments with the question, “How can the Scriptures give us strength and renewal here in the aftermath of the Covid experience?” We will also discuss possible topics for Bible Study going forward. Bring your ideas and your interests. As always coffee, tea and refreshments will be served. Please join us for the beginning of a renewed journey with the Scriptures.

Cemetery Decoration Service took place Sunday, October 2 at 11:00 am. Sunday’s service will be held at our beautiful cemetery, with the leaves then colourful. Please bring your own lawn chair as we gather together outside in the fresh air with loved-ones passed surrounding us.  (Weather permitting, of course. An email will be sent if Mother Nature does not cooperate)
